Comment with a song you'd like to hear played solo on Friday — I would be excited to play some older ones if need be.

I took this photo on 4th of July weekend. My neighborhood sounded like it was going up in flames when it got dark, so I hopped on my bike and scooted around to find a few people lighting off fireworks. These two got about 12 feet away before the right one blasted off and lit up the night. I sat with another group of folks who lived down the street, watching quietly as these two took out their frustrations on the skies above.

On relatively short notice, I (Sam) will be playing a solo opening set for Tall Heights — a Boston band on their way through town at Rumba cafe on Friday night. If you haven’t heard their music, be prepared for cello, acoustic guitar, tight vocal harmonies, and a dash of soundscapey indie-folkiness. They have performed with people like Ben Folds, Blind Pilot, José González, Gregory Alan Isakov, and probably a bunch of other people who are also making up our inspo playlist for our third record. In other words, you’ll enjoy yourself.

Tickets are $15 before the show, or $18 on the night of the show. If you want to attend as someone who is under 21, all you have to do is pay an extra $2.

Anyway, it would be nice to see you. Looking forward.
